Weekend Update

Well, the weekend was good. Friday I took a vacation day and just goofed off. I went to see Zombieland, which turned out to be a lot of fun. It's not exactly a movie with a lot of profound themes, but it has a lot of fun, zombie killin' action, and at least one good cameo. It managed to do a good job of combining horror and comedy elements, providing some genuine laughs while also providing some good, cringe-worthy moments of zombie related gore. Also took Cassidy to the dog park on Friday, and had a really good Crack practice (i.e., Cracktice) with Andy and Sigmund. Crack continues to evolve, devolve, rotate, and undulate. I'm not really sure how many other people out there would enjoy listening to Crack, but I find our stuff really interesting and cool.
Saturday I watched the UT-OU game with Ryan and Jamie. The Longhorns played a pretty

ugly game, but a win's a win, and we're not too proud to take it. Personally, I think Colt McCoy looks like he's well out of any sort of contention for the Heisman at this point, though. His play has just seemed too inconsistent for him to be a Heisman candidate this year, and we just haven't seen him stepping up to make a lot of big plays (plus, you've got a sort of small but steady stream of fumbles and interceptions coming from the guy). I guess he might still have time to turn things around, though, if he can start to really padding his highlight reel going into this latter part of the season.
Anyway, we also hung out with and had dinner with Heather Wagner for her birthday on Saturday. We had dinner with she and some other friends at Fonda San Miguel. It was a good time. Happy birthday, Heather!

Sunday I went with Ryan, Jamie, and all of the dogs to the dog park. I had dinner with Ryan and Jamie Sunday night, and we watched the 20th anniversary of the Simpson's Halloween special. I can't believe that show has been on the air for 20 years. There are large numbers of kids in our country who have grown into adulthood while the Simpsons has still been on the air (and producing new episodes). Weird.

(can you believe that my lawn grew back from being a dirty dust pit into this after just a little rain? Cassidy is shocked.)

So that was the weekend, for the most part. Maybe I'll post more later. Hope ya'll are starting your week off on the right foot!
